South West Recordings was a unique joint venture partnership between Dartington Plus and Sawmills Studios. Now closed to new artists, the label was created as a stepping stone label for South West based musicians. Artists were signed for one single release and then provided with professional studio time and production.
SW Recordings commercially released singles with the full promotional back up of press agents, TV and radio promotions specialists and digital marketing experts. Whether we sold 200 or 2 million copies the artists were then free to sign to another label.
The label was run by Rick Rogers, a Music Fellow at UCF who has a long history in artist management and record labels. Rick has managed artists including The Damned, The Specials, Fun Boy 3 and The Soup Dragons. During his time with The Specials he also looked after their Two Tone label with numerous Top Ten records and massive worldwide sales. His work on Two Tone, Big Life records and E Park has given him a wealth of experience in running independent record labels.
Dartington Plus
Dartington Plus supports long-term participation in music and the arts for all people in the South West of England, through a partnership of The Dartington Hall Trust, University College Falmouth and King Edward VI Community College. The organisation was formed in 2003 and acts as the South West’s Music Development Agency, working to support, advocate and develop the music economy of the region.

Sawmills Studios
Sawmills was established in 1974 as one of the first residential recording facilities in the U.K. Set in its own unspoilt tidal creek on the banks of the River Fowey in Cornwall, Sawmills boasts one of the most picturesque and atmospheric locations for a recording studio anywhere in the world.
Over the past 3 decades, Sawmills has evolved a unique balance between modern technology and the outstanding natural beauty of the Cornish countryside, to produce a perfect environment for creative work.
Recording artists from XTC to Robert Plant, The Stone Roses to Oasis, The Verve to Supergrass and Muse, have all remarked on and benefited from the special creative atmosphere that the Sawmills provides.
